This is a deep lymphatic massage and not the more traditional technique of manual lymphatic massage. The fluid in the lymphatic system helps to remove waste and toxins from the bodily tissues. Massage stimulating the lymphatic system helps to encourage the fluid dynamics in the body to move around more easily eliminating the build up of such waste products. Lymphatic drainage has been used successfully to improve the recovery of sports injuries, muscular skeletal conditions, soft tissue injuries, recovery from acute injuries and post surgery. It is particularly useful after surgery where any swelling hasn’t gone down; some unexplained soft tissue aches and pains such as shin splints and some back pain, as well as for general health and well being for people who find they retain more fluid. Deep lymphatic massage uses a different technique from Swedish, Remedial or Sports massage.
